Behavioral Therapy for a Brighter Future in Holly Springs, Apex, Cary, NC
Everything changed when I moved to Hawai’i and ended up working for an amazing company that specialized in ABA. Almost right away, I felt a strong connection to the field, and I knew I had found my true calling.
Determined to grow in this newfound passion, I pursued a Master’s degree in Special Education while teaching in a model autism classroom. There, I had the privilege of blending ABA principles with Common Core Standards to create an inclusive and effective learning environment for my students.
When life brought me to Cary, North Carolina, I brought that same dedication to Wake County Schools. Applying my ABA expertise to special education classrooms, I cultivated a teaching style rooted in structure, creativity, and compassion. My efforts were recognized when I was honored as Teacher of the Year—twice.
As my career evolved, I became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and took the leap to open my own boutique-style ABA company, Bound to Bloom Behavioral Institute. Our approach is deeply personal, focusing on 1:1 support for children with autism while prioritizing family involvement. I firmly believe that families are the most important stakeholders in their child’s growth and success, and I work closely with them to ensure we’re aligned in achieving meaningful progress.
To expand this vision, I also launched social skills classes to reach more children and families. These classes are designed not only to help children develop essential skills but also to integrate them into the community, fostering a sense of belonging. A significant part of my passion lies in educating and empowering the community to better support and engage with individuals with disabilities. My mission is to create a movement of acceptance, support, and love for those with special needs and their families—a movement that promotes understanding and celebrates diversity, creating a true place of belonging for all.
This journey has been far from traditional, but every step has led me closer to my purpose: empowering children with autism and their families to thrive, grow, and bloom. It’s a path I’m endlessly grateful for and one I’m excited to continue sharing with the community.
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and changing behavior. ABA involves breaking down complex behaviors into smaller steps (e.g., learning the first two steps of setting a table, brushing teeth, grocery shopping, etc.), and then using positive reinforcement (e.g., praise) to motivate individuals to perform the desired behaviors. The goal is to help individuals master and practice new behaviors in a structured and supportive environment (e.g., toilet training at home), so that they can transfer these skills to other situations (e.g., using the restroom at a store).
By learning basic ABA principles, we can help families, schools, and communities use skills to help children grow, thrive, and BLOOM into their full potential.
We use the principles of ABA all day every day!
For example:
- Did you check your calendar on your phone to be on time to a meeting.
- Use a rewards app at Starbucks to get a free latte.
- Prepare your child’s lunch in advance so that you were not rushing in the morning.
- Buckle up your seat belt after hearing the beeping sound.
- Stop at the red light when driving to avoid getting a ticket.
If you did, you were using some of the strategies of ABA.
Class Descriptions
The Clubhouse Social Skills Group at Bound to Bloom provides students with the opportunity to interact with age-appropriate peers through structured activities, guided instruction, and games. Led by an experienced special education teacher and BCBA, the program focuses on building friendships while improving communication, social skills, and academic performance in a supportive environment.
The program includes daily routines such as a Morning Meeting to reinforce structure and group communication, as well as a Check-In to support emotional regulation and peer interaction.
Students will receive targeted instruction in Math, focusing on skills such as counting, addition and subtraction, base ten concepts, money, and time. In Language Arts, students will engage in differentiated reading activities, work on writing sight words and sentences, and develop comprehension skills.
If your child is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems user, they will be encouraged to communicate through modeling and role-play during group activities, allowing them to use their communication systems effectively in social situations. This approach supports the development of both verbal and non-verbal communication skills in a natural, interactive environment. Communication boards are available in the clubhouse to ensure that all students can express their needs and interact with peers in a variety of ways, promoting inclusive communication for every child.
Parents will see their children not only strengthen their academic skills but also gain confidence in social interactions, communication, and cooperative play. Our Clubhouse Social Club program creates an enriching, well-rounded experience that combines fun with meaningful learning.
